Charles B. Karnes Jr.

Charles B. Karnes Jr., of Ralston, passed away at his residence July 22, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was 70 years of age.
Born Nov. 30, 1944, in Zanesville, Ohio, he was the son of Charles B. Karnes Sr. and Naomi (Libby) Karnes. 
For most of his working life he was a truck driver. He was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was married to the former Elsie Wheeler on Sept. 6, 1969.
Charles was known as being a regular Mr. Fix-It who enjoyed tinkering with small engines. If he couldn't fix it, nobody could. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and snowmobiling and motorcycling. he enjoyed bingo, both as player and as a caller. He was a member of the Deer Crossing Detachment of the Marine Corps League, as well as the Red Run Rod and Gun Club and the Canton Lodge 429, Loyal Order of Moose. He served his community as an EMT with the Ralston Ambulance Association and went on missionary trips for the Christian Church of Cogan Station. 
He is survived by his wife, Elsie, at home; sons, Charles B. "Chip" Karnes III (wife, Denise), of Williamsport, Tim Karnes, of South Williamsport; daughters, Brenda (Ron) Lee, of Montoursville, Jodi (Rob) Wesneski, of Canton, Robin (Mike) Reidell, of Avis; brothers, Robert Karnes, of Brookside, Michael Karnes, of California, Patrick Karnes, of Renovo; sisters, Dory Kauffman, of Elizabethville, Pa. and LaDonna Karnes, of Washington state; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was precede in death by a brother, Don Karnes.
Visitation will be Friday, July 24, 2015, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ralston UMC. Service will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Ann Overmiller officiating.

Interment will be in Beech Flats Cemetery with military honors provided by Deer Crossing Detachment of the Marine Corps League.
