Velma A (Heater) Bailey

Velma A. Bailey, age 87, of Troy, passed away on November 6, 2023, at the Highlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Laporte, PA.  She was born on September 9, 1936 in Tioga, PA, daughter of the late Milford and Ellen Merrick Heater.  Velma is survived by her daughter Lucretia Sweetman of Towanda, a son, James L. (Barbara ) Bailey of North Carolina, two grandsons,  James W. Bailey and Corey Lovette, two sisters, Ruth Powlison of  Mansfeild and Janet (Randy) Tripp of Millerton, two sisters-in-law Nancy Heater of Millerton and Elaine Gee of Towanda, a brother-in-law, Merritt Heck of  Ohio, two grandchildren Ryan (Alex) Lovette and Samantha (Levi) Lovette, one very special niece Laura Barrett of Troy.  She is also survived by several other nieces, nephews and friends.  In addition to her parents, Velma is predeceased by her husband, James E. Bailey, stepmother Madeline Heather, siblings Erma (Francis) Mitchell, Bernice Heck, Norma (Richard) Baker, Joyce Heather, Sherry (Butch) Miller, Milford (Jeanette) Heater,  Jr., Wilford Heater, brother-in-law Neal Sargent, granddaughter Nicole Colin and grandson Ethan Wayne.  Family a nd Friends received Friday November 10, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, Inc., 94 N Center Street, Canton, PA 17724, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm with the Rev. David Storrs officiating.
