Sun Rise December 12, 1959 Sun Set March 11, 2020

Tyrone Maurice Sapp was the 13th child born to the late Rev. Leslie & Rosabell Sapp on December 12, 1959 in Philadelphia, PA.

Tyrone was educated in the Philadelphia School System, a graduate of Overbrook High School. He received the following certifications CNA, Truck driving CDL & Welding. Tyrone had a thirst for God’s word and further his education at Manna Bible Institute.

In 1993 Tyrone married his childhood friend and sweetheart Janice on May 15th. 27years of marriage and 48 years of friendship. From this union they were blessed with a beautiful blended family Michael, Jabril, Darren, Isaiah, Ekim.

Tyrone was baptized and accepted the Lord at an early age under the Leadership of the late Rev. L.L Sapp. He was a Junior Deacon and a Founding member of New Hope United Holy Baptist Church. Tyrone was license and then Ordained to Preach the Gospel and became the Pastor of Robinson Chapel Baptist of Philadelphia. One of the greatest joys of Tyrone’s life was to sing. If there was a mic available it would be attached to his hand as he gave God praise. Tyrone was instrumental in the development of several groups, The New Hope Male Chorus, The Trumpets and the famous STARS of HEAVEN. Tyrone had a unique sound and he studied and mentored after many quartet style gospel group like The Soul Stirrers … this is where he’s unique ooohhhhh began.

Tyrone always had a smile on his face and in his heart, He had a charismatic bigger than life personality. He cared for everyone and all ..this started with his love of animals; his Sunday suite pockets were often filled with bugs, worms and snakes, then as he grew so did the size of his animals to snapping turtles and his beautiful horses. (Which he promised to buy a horse for every one of his nieces and nephews)

Tyrone enjoyed spending time with friends and his loved ones. Evident from the song he wrote “Together We Stand and Divided We Fall”, Tyrone often expressed to his family that unity and love would conquer all. He encouraged us all through the word of God to stay unified and we would be able to deliver a mighty blow to the enemy as long as we stay TOGETHER. Tyrone was not just a preacher but also a teacher, His God given gift to allow you to visually see the word of God as he preached, expound and express the lesson through vivid stories and in song.

Two other songs written by Tyrone “All Things Are Possible” and “I’m Gonna Trust the Lord” which was comprised from his favorite scripture Psalms 91 has now become his reality “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”.
