TIMOTHY PAUL KAISER

 

Timothy Paul Kaiser of Sylvania passed away at Bradford County Manor February 1, 2019. He was 57 years old. Born August 9, 1961 in Mendota, Il., he was the youngest of five children of Gerald and Opel (Dilday) Kaiser. He had four older siblings: Evangeline “Angie” Harmon, Bonita Kaiser, Dennis Kaiser and Luther Kaiser. He was baptized in St. John's Lutheran Church in Mendota in September of 1961, and was confirmed at St. John's in 1975. He attended the Mendota schools and graduated from Northbrook Junior High in 1975, and from Mendota Township High School in 1979, where he was the class co-salutatorian. Tim graduated May 16, 1982 from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. In the fall of 1982 he attended Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota to become a Lutheran minister. In 1984 Tim spent the summer in Israel on an archeological dig at Caesarea, and while there was able to tour most of Israel, including Jerusalem. Prior to his return to the U.S. He also visited Rome, Italy. In 1986 while serving an internship in Tewksbury, Mass., which included working with inner city children in Boston, he decided to transfer from Luther-Northwestern to the Baptist Seminary at Andover Newton Theological School in Boston. He was ordained a Baptist minister on May 18, 1987 in Boston. His first parish was Stony Fork Baptist Church, Stony Fork, Pa. While there he met his future wife, Penny Eiffert, and on July 6, 1991 they were married at the Canton Mennonite Church in Canton, Pa. Their first son, Yochanon, was born in 1963 in Wellsboro, Pa. In 1996 Tim and his family decided to move back to Mendota, where their second son was born in 2000. While in Mendota Tim served as pastor of the First baptist Church at 900 Monroe Street. About ten years ago he began to show signs of Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease, and because of its progression decided to step down as pastor. Tim, Penny and their youngest son, Sam, decided to move back to Penny's home town, Troy, Pa.

Tim is survived by his wife of 27 years, Penny, their son Yochanon (John) & his wife Tish and two granddaughters, Emma and Lilliana of Peru, IL, son Shemuel (Sam) of Peru, IL, sisters Bonita Kaiser and Evangeline (Angie) Harmon and brothers Dennis and Luther Kaiser, all of Mendota, and niece Annelies, Father-in-law and mother-in-law Merle and Barbara Eiffert of Sylvania, pa, brother-in-law Merle W. Eiffert (& Brenda) and nephew Tom Eiffert, brother-in-law Timothy (& Debbi) Eiffert and nephew Nicholas and niece Katie of Yardville, NJ, sister-in-law Amy (& Lucas) Grover of Athens, Pa. As well as many friends, including but not limited to Jeff, Marty and Dennis. A special thanks to the staff at Bradford County Manor, especially 1 East, for the care they gave “Timmy.” Visitation will be 6 PM Monday February 4th, at the North Street Church in Canton. Memorial service to follow at 7 PM. Visitation in Mendota, IL, will be 5 PM Friday, February 8th, at the Come As You Are Baptist Church, 900 Monroe Street, Mendota, IL,. with a memorial service at 7 PM.
