Michael Todd Neff

December 23, 1963 ~ October 29, 2018 (age 54)

On the morning of Monday, October 29TH, 2018, Michael Tod Neff of Canton passed away quietly at The Gatehouse in Williamsport following a courageous battle with cancer.  He was 54 years of age.  Born December 23rd, 1963 in Allentown, Pa., he was the son of  the late Norwood Neff and Betty (Schmoyer) Neff.  He was a 1981 graduate of Parkland High School in Allentown, and worked for most of his adult life as a truck driver.  His most recent employer was Fenton’s in Wyalusing, where he had been promoted to dispatcher.  Mike’s driving career occasionally brought him to Canton, where he met Nancy Hawkins, and in August of 1991 they were united in marriage.  Together they raised a son and daughter, and shared 27 years.  Mike was a friendly, outgoing man who made friends easily.  He was a past member of Canton Lodge #429 Loyal Order of Moose and enjoyed  collecting baseball cards, fishing with his son and grandsons and attending Penn State football games.  Mike was also a man of decided opinion and you always knew where he stood, and where you stood with him.  He was also notorious for his good-natured “ribbing,” and liked to get a rise out of people.  But a truer friend you could not find.

Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy,  and his mother, Betty, both at home, son Jacob Neff (&  Mareaha Harvey) of Canton, daughter Mindy Hartford (& Joseph Carew) of Ogdensburg, grandsons Hunter Chaapel and Gavin Hartford, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father, Norwood Neff.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 PM, Friday, November 2nd, at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N. Center Street, Canton.  A celebration of Mike’s life will follow at 7 PM.  The family will provide the flowers and suggests that contributions in Mike’s memory be directed to The Gatehouse Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, Pa., 17701.  (
