FREDERICK R. CHAAPEL

   On the evening of Thursday, May 17^th, 2018,  former LeRoy resident, Frederick R. Chaapel, passed away quietly at Bradford County Manor following a courageous battle with cancer.  He was 81 years of age.  Born in LeRoy Township on June 16^th, 1936, he was the son of Burr and Helen (Carter) Chaapel.   Throughout his life Fred worked at many jobs, the most prominent one being that of  a sawyer for L.L. Baumunk Lumber Co. in Shunk.  Fred was a quiet, somewhat retiring kind and gentle soul who never had a lot to say, but to those who knew him closely he was a true and loyal friend.  He endeared himself especially to the staff at Bradford County Manor during the past few years.

   Fred is survived by his brothers Stanley Chaapel and Raymond Chaapel and sister Pauline Finogle, all of Canton,  as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Burr and Helen Chaapel, brothers George and Victor Chaapel and sister Marie Hoyles. 

      Viewing will be from noon to 1 PM Wednesday the 23^rd at Morse and Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N. Center St., Canton, Pa., 17724.  Funeral service will follow at 1 PM.    Interment will be in LeRoy Cemetery. (morseandkleesefuneralhome.com)
