Ralph E. Horst, of Canton PA, entered peacefully into rest Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the age of 72. He was the husband of Dorcas E. (Martin) Horst, to whom he was married 52 years.
He was born on January 16, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD, son of the late Irvin and Mable (Martin) Horst. He was a member of the Towanda Creek Mennonite Church of West Franklin, PA and served as bishop in the church.
He is survived by his wife Dorcas of Canton, PA along with 12 children: Emeline Jones and husband Robbie of Hephzibah, GA; Lyndora Swartzentruber and husband Jason of Glade Spring, VA; James Horst and wife Marla of Belle Fourche, SD; Timothy Horst and wife Judy of Rawlins, WY; Joanna Gerber and husband Luke of Antigo WI; Kristina Gerber and husband Marlin of Mt. Stelring, KY; Titus Horst and wife Sharon of Grayson, KY; Kathaleen Gerber of Thamesville, ON; Paul Horst and wife RuthAnne of Withee, WI; Arlin Horst and wife Lynelle of Long Creek, OR: Marilyn Mast and husband Leonard of Pedernales, MX; Dale Horst and wife Stephanie of Fredericksburg, PA; 4 sisters: Esther Martin and husband Elvin; Arlene Horst; Orpha Martin and husband Darrel; Mary Jane Martin and husband James; 2 sisters-in-law Elizabeth Horst and Joy Horst.
He will be fondly remembered by 71 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by 2 brothers, Earl Horst and Roy Horst.
The community of friends and family are invited to a viewing at New Life Church 299 McMurray Road, Canton, PA on Saturday, June 22 from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. And a viewing at Shade Mountain Mennonite Church, 134 Center Rd, Mt Pleasant Mills, PA, on Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at God's Missionary Church, 1653 Creek Rd., Middleburg, PA on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
