BERTHA MAE “BEA” BAGLEY
During the early morning of Friday, May 25th, 2018 Ellenton resident Bertha Mae Bagley passed away quietly at Geisinger Medical Center. She was 81 years of age. Known to family and friends as Bea, she was born January 8th, 1937 at her family’s Ellenton Mountain dairy farm and was the daughter of Robert and Elsie (Dickerson) Bagley. She went on to have a long career as a secretary, paralegal and personal assistant in Washington D.C. with AMTRAK, The American Bankers Association and at the Pentagon. She returned home to the mountains upon the death of her father in 1989. Bea had an undeniable love for God and music. She played piano and organ at her church for many years, as well as singing with the church’s trio. She had a very giving heart, donating to a vast number of charities over the years, as well as chauffeuring others to doctors’ appointments. She was generous beyond degree, always putting the needs of others before her own. Bea was also a prolific writer and was working on her autobiography at the time of her passing. Her cheerful smile and soft-spoken demeanor will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her daughters Karen Bagley Jennings of Sullivan, OH., Nancy Bagley of Culpeper Va., Roberta Bagley Barrows (& John) of Colorado and Brenda Bagley Rezvan of Rixeyville, Va., grandchildren Melissa Jennings (& Chris), Kristina Jennings-Fetterman (& Mark), Richard Samuel Brantley, Nathaniel Brantley, Aleana Marie, Tomas M. Kuhn, Nikolas Bagley and Savhana Thurlow, great-grandchildren Carson, Lincoln, Westin, Francesca Lynn, Connor, Mason and Vivian.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 PM Tuesday, May 29th, at the Ellenton Chapel in the village of Ellenton (McNett Township) on Ellenton Mountain Road. A celebration of Bea’s life will take place at 2 O’Clock PM with the Rev. Jerry Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in Ellenton Cemetery. (morseandkleesefuneralhome.com)
