                WILLIAM J. HOWELL

       On the morning of Monday, July 27th, 2015,  William John Howell, formerly of Troy, passed away quietly, with his family at his side, at his daughter’s residence in Sayre, just five days away from his 96th birthday.   Born August 1st, 1919  in Troy, he was the son of Willis D. and Jenny (Hoyle) Howell.  Mr. Howell was a graduate of Troy High School and was employed as a machinist for 40 years at Westinghouse.  He was the widower of Eloise (Wood) Howell with whom he had raised three sons and three daughters.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening  and especially bowling, in which he continued to participate until his late 80’s.  His skill and expertise earned him a place in the bowling Hall of Fame at Troy Terrace Lanes. Bill was also a man with  a deep, abiding faith in the Lord, and was a longtime member of the Calvary Alliance Church in Canton.

   He is survived by his sons, Lewis (& Phyllis) Howell of Canton, Donald (& Ruth) Howell of Bartlesville, OK, daughters Beverlee (& Reuben) Barrett of Troy, Aleida (& John) Bryerton of Sayre, Penny (& Bill) Jones of Canton, special daughter-in-law Carol Howell of Canisteo, NY special friend Carol Mann of Sayre, 33 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.   In addition to his wife, Eloise, he was preceded in death by his son, Duane Howell, as well as his ten siblings.  In accordance with his wishes  all arrangements are private, and have been entrusted to Morse and Kleese Funeral Home, Canton.
