ROSCOE BOWLING JR.

   On the morning of Monday, November 27, 2017, well known Canton resident Roscoe Bowling Jr. passed away unexpectedly at Troy Hospital  from an aneurism. He was 68 years of age.  Born May 18, 1949 in Pine Knot, Ky,  he was the son of Roscoe Sr. and Edith (Coffey) Bowling.  Roscoe was raised in Pine Knot, and was a graduate of McCreary County High School.   He served our country as part of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  Roscoe came to Canton in 1970 while working as a telephone line installer.  He met and married his wife of 46 years, Linda McIntosh Bowling, in 1971 and made Canton his home.  Roscoe worked with the Auxiliary Police in Canton for several years but is best remembered as a beloved member of the old Landon’s Cedar Ledge team.  He will always be remembered by family and friends for his quick wit, kind heart and friendly personality.   

   He is survived by his wife, Linda, at home, daughter Dixie (Bowling) Aiken and grandson Jamar Aiken of Culpepper, Va., sisters Jewel Bowling and Kathy Meadows, brother Bill Bowling, special nieces Monica and Aurora Ellenberger and nephew Josh Ellenberger and a very special exchange student daughter, Ai Yamamoto of Japan.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald and Orville Bowling and sisters Attiefair Campbell and Deborah Ellenberger.

     Visitation will be from noon to 1 o’clock PM Friday, December 1, at Morse and Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N. Center St., Canton. Service Will be at 1 o’clock PM with Pastor Dan Camarata officiating.  Interment will follow in Grover Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions in Roscoe’s name be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
