JOHN F. FREY

       On the afternoon of Sunday, October25th, 2015, John Frederick Frey of Canton passed away quietly at Troy Community Hospital after a brave battle with cancer attributed to exposure to Agent Orange while in the service of his country.  He was 67 years of age.  Born in Canton February 23^rd, 1948, he was the son of John S. Frey and Nellie (Bolt) Frey.   He was married to the former Juanita Smith, and together they raised two sons and a daughter.  John was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the Fourth U. S. Army.  He was a life member of the Canton VFW and a member of the Canton American Legion.   Throughout most of his adult  life he worked at various jobs, such as coal mining and salvage. But his true passion was being a mechanic.  Few things gave him greater pleasure than tinkering with automotive engines and restoring them to top working order.  In addition to restoring cars and trucks, John enjoyed flea markets , auctions and spending time with friends and family.

   John is survived by his wife, Juanita, at home, sons Nevada “Bert” Frey (& Joyce Seeley), Cheyenne (& Meleney) Frey and daughter Sonya (& Josh) Metzger, all of Canton,  sisters Judy (Darrin) Minthorn of Ralston and Barbara Miller of Williamsport, as well as 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Nellie Frey, brother James Frey and brother-in-law Steve Miller.   Viewing will be 3:30 to 5 PM, Thursday, the 29^th at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N. Center St., Canton.  Service to follow at 5 P.M. with Pastor Will Strunk officiating.
