On the evening of Tuesday, July 7th, 2015, Canton resident Herbert L. Morgan went home with his Lord at Bradford County manor with his family surrounding his bedside. He was 74 years of age. Born in Sayre on January 18th, 1941, he was the eldest son of Dean and Wilma (Davis) Morgan. For most of his working life Herb was a plumber, serving with Schoonover’s Plumbing and heating for 37 years. Herb married his high school sweetheart, Sherry Chamberlain, on January 28th, 1961. They raised three children and shared 54 years of marriage. Herb was a life member of the Ridgebury Fire Co. As a fundraiser, the fire company would put on minstrel shows and Herb served as an end man for many years. He also served as a Little League Baseball coach for many years with youngsters in the Bentley Creek area. Herb loved fishing and hunting with family members on Morgan’s Mountain. He was also fond of bowling, and he and Sherry sponsored numerous teams of all age levels over the years, more especially the teams that his “second family” belonged to. Keith and Kevin Morgan were like sons to him.
Surviving is his wife, Sherry, at home, son Ronald (& Sandy) Morgan of Mechanicsburg Pa., daughters Terri (& Doug) Kapp of Dauphin, Pa., and Tammy (& Ron) Watkins of Columbia Cross Roads, brothers Doyle (& Marilyn) Morgan and Walter (& Susan) Morgan, all of Canton, sister Alice Rogers of Canton, grandchildren Matthew (& Leanne) Watkins, Natasha (& Chad) Force of Canton, Jeremy & Justin Kapp and fiancees Ally Todd and Toree Kunkel, Marcus Watkins, serving in the US Army in El Paso, TX, Ryan and Amanda Morgan (& Kody Bream), Kaelyn & Ryan Budnok and Taylor Morgan, who, on June 8th, Herb had the pleasure of watching receive her diploma from Mechanicsburg High School from his hospital bed by way of a special television hook up, his great-grandchildren Luke Budnok, Hunter Watkins, Emma Orcutt,
Nevaeh Force, Dakotta and Mattie Watkins, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Wilma Morgan and parents-in-law, Art & Ethel Chamberlain, brother-in-law Jerry May, special uncles Emery Davis and Etsyl Davis and special aunt Betty Davis.
Calling hours will be 1 to 3 PM Friday, the 10th at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N. Center Street, Canton. Service will follow at 3 PM. Interment will be in East Canton Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers and suggests that contributions in Herb’s name be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, Pa., 18701.
