Doris I (Sheets) Stone

DORIS I. STONE

   On the morning of Sunday, April 12^th, 2015, former Fassett resident Doris Ione (Sheets) Stone passed away quietly  at Bradford County Manor.  She was 82 years of age.   Born in Hughesville on  August 5^th, 1932, and raised in Elmira, NY, she was the daughter of  Owen and hazel (Temple) Sheets.  In 1952 she married Howard F. Stone, Jr., and together they raised three sons and two daughters.  By 1969 the family moved to Fassett.    Doris and Howard  shared 48 years until his passing in 2000. 

  Doris enjoyed working with her hands and was skilled at crocheting and other crafts.  Most of all, she enjoyed the company of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her sons Howard (& Tonya) Stone, III, of Pine City, NY, Bob (& Sandy) Stone of North Carolina, Jeff (& Tammy) Stone of Fassett, daughters Deb (& David) Rockwell of Troy and Cindy (& Mike) Culver of Fassett, brother Richard Sheets of Florida, ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard F. Stone, Jr., and infant daughter Hazel.
