Leora W. (Ellis) Wilcox

October 31, 1932 ~ January 11, 2018 (age 85) 85 Years Old

 Leora W. Wilcox, 85, Canton, PA passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Bradford County Manor.

  Leora was born in Canton Township to the late Robert A. and Gladys Watts Ellis on October 31, 1932.  She was a 1950 graduate of Canton High School.  After graduation, she worked in the office of her father’s coal yard as a weighmaster and was employed over the years by Arnot-Ogden Hospital and Troy Community Hospital, retiring in 1995 after 18 years with the US Postal Service.  In 1983, she married Ralph W. Wilcox who survives.

  While her children were growing up, she was very active in the local Mother’s Club.  She would often talk about driving the Spanish class of 1970 to Mexico, a trip she thoroughly enjoyed.  Leora was a member of the Ladies Auxillary VFW, American Legion in Canton and Morris Run and Canton’s Women of the Moose Chapter 981 where she held several offices and was honored to earn Collegiate Regent with red stole.  She was a member of the Ecumenical Church, Canton.

 A caring mom and grandmother, she enjoyed taking her grandchildren camping and like to watch NASCAR races.  She loved to take pictures of family and friends and would always have her camera close by.  She truly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would do anything and everything she could to help them or just let them know she was thinking of them.  She was a very proud grandma.

  Surviving are her three children:  Gloria Colton, Shinglehouse; Mark Williams, Canton; and LaVonna (Hank) Jenkins, Pompton Plains, NJ.

 Seven Grandchildren:  Michelle (Patrick) Claudio, Jacksonville, FL; Michael (Angie) Colton, II, Shinglehouse; Natasha Bonnell, Rhonda Williams (Bryan Graham), Canton; Austin Jenkins, Pompton Plains, NJ; TJ Williams and Steven (Heidi) Williams, Canton. 

Stepchildren:  Nancy (Barry) Grove, Montoursville; Mark (LuAnn) Wilcox, Wheelerville    ; Bradley Wilcox, Rocky Mount, NC     ; and Brenda (Alan) Hartford, Alba

 Eighteen great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and step greatgrandchildren.

 Leora was predeceased by her beloved son, Curtis Williams in 2001.

 There will be no viewing or funeral services.  The family will announce details of a memorial service to be held at a later date.  Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Morse and Kleese Funeral Home, Canton, PA.  Donations may be made in Leora’s name to Mooseheart at Moose Charities, Inc., 155 S. International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539 or to Bradford County Humane Society, US Hwy 220, Ulster, PA 18850.
